Description
This is a firmware update package for the Toshiba 64GB SSD installed in the Satellite A505-S6979 and A505-S6999 computers.


Change Points

  1. This firmware update fixes an incorrectly displayed error Message: "Disk0 Your SSD may be approaching its maximum number of recommended write/rewrite cycles. Toshiba recommends you immediately create backup for your SSD data and contact an authorized service provider to check your drive. It may be necessary to purchase a new replacement drive."

Installation Instructions

  1. Save this file to a convenient location such as the Windows Desktop
  2. Installation Notes:
    • This package updates the Toshiba 64GB SSD drive's firmware from AGXA0101/AGTA0201 to AGTA0203.
    • This firmware update is for Windows XP and Windows Vista.
    • Log in as an Administrator when running this update.
    • The update process will fail if you access the the target SSD while updating the firmware.
    • Close all applications before running the update.
    • The Serial ATA setting in BIOS must be set to AHCI mode. If IDE mode is set, the process fails after displaying an error message.
    • Remove the Hard Disk Password if it is set in BIOS.
    • Connect the AC Adapter.
  3. Turn off "User Account Control".
    • Click Start, then Control Panel.
    • Click User Accounts and Family Safety.
    • Click User Accounts.
    • Click Turn User Account Control on or off.
    • Click Continue if a User Account Control message is displayed.
    • Uncheck the box next to "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer."
    • Click OK.
  4. On the Windows Desktop, double-click the downloaded file to start the installation.
  5. Target SSDs are listed. After selecting the appropriate Toshiba SSD, click Update.
  6. Read the warnings then click Yes.
  7. Click Yes to confirm that you want to update the firmware.
  8. Click OK after the update completes.
  9. Restart the computer twice.
