Description
This driver is needed to insure the proper operation of the sound device in your computer. This is required for playback of Wave and MIDI files.

Changes From Previous Version

  1. When muting the sound output of the machine using the "volume" tray icon in the task bar, the sound card settings in the control panel or by pressing FN-ESC (Mute) and trying to open the webcam properties, the webcam application hangs. (Reported on European Portege R600)

Installation Instructions

  1. Save this file to a convenient location such as the Windows Desktop
  2. Install the new Realtek High Definition Audio Driver driver_audio_realtek_os2009204a.exe by double-clicking the icon on the Windows Desktop.
  3. Follow the displayed instructions, then click Finish to restart the computer.

Driver Version Verification

  1. Run Device Manager.
  2. Double-click Realtek High Definition Audio under Sound, video and game controllers.
  3. Verify 5.10.0.5869 is shown on Driver Version in the Driver tab.
  4. Click Driver Details and select "RTKHDAUD.sys" in Driver Details.
  5. Verify 5.10.0.5869 built by: WinDDK" is shown on File version.
