- Issue
Toshiba laptops which ship with Windows Vista preinstalled should not require manual activation with Microsoft. However there is a problem with Windows Vista which can sometimes result in being prompted to activate Windows Vista even though it was preinstalled by Toshiba.- Resolution
If you are using the preinstalled version of Windows Vista and are prompted to activate, this may be resolved by applying a fix available from Microsoft.

Download and install Microsoft update 931573 to fix this problem, available at the following URL: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931573.
