Power Plan icon incorrectly reports "(plugged in, not charging)" with AC Adapter connected, charging battery

Issue


When the AC adapter is plugged-in to the computer, the Windows Vista Current Power Plan icon initially reports the power status as "(plugged in, not charging)", even though the computer is charging the battery -- as indicated by the battery LED. Hovering over the icon again reveals the correct status: "(plugged in, charging)".

The Current Power Plan icon resides in the Notification Area (formerly called the SysTray) at the right side of the Windows Taskbar.

Resolution


Update the BIOS to version 4.30 or higher. Click the following link to download and install BIOS 4.30.
