Issue

If the Napster Burning Engine application is un-installed from the models listed above, the optical (CD/DVD) drive may disappear from the list of drives displayed by Window Explorer (My Computer).

Resolution

To make the optical drive re-appear in Window Explorer (My Computer), it's necessary to re-install the Napster Burning Engine app from the computer's Recovery disc, per the steps below.

Since you won't be able to browse the files on the Recovery disc in this computer, it's necessary to use a second computer with a DVD drive, and some removable media, to complete the re-installation.

Procedure

Follow these steps to re-install the Napster Burning Engine and re-enable the computer's optical drive:

1. Insert the Recovery disc into the DVD drive of another computer.

2. Use Windows Explorer / My Computer to browse to the B25993A.EXE file, as shown in the screen shot below.

3. Connect a USB flash 'drive' (or other removal media) to the second computer.

4. Copy the file B25993A.EXE to the flash drive.

5. Connect the flash drive to the Qosmio G45.

6. Copy the file from the flash drive to the Windows Desktop of the Qosmio G45.

7. Double-click the B25993A.EXE file on the Windows Desktop to install the Napster Burning Engine app.

8. When the installation is done, restart Windows

The optical drive should now appear in Windows Explorer (My Computer).
