Versions of the Toshiba HD DVD Player software earlier than version 4.20.16 may not play HD DVD titles released on or after Sept 7, 2007. The Player's window may remain blank, and the Player may close. 

An upgrade to a newer version of the Toshiba HD DVD Player software is available for the computer models listed above. It plays HD DVD titles released on and after Sept 7, 2007. The newer version 4.20.16 of the Player offers some improvements in addition to its support for newer HD DVD titles.

Upgrading the Toshiba HD DVD Player requires downloading a relatively large file (88MB), and may require upgrading other software components, depending upon the computer model.

For the Qosmio G35-AV650 and Qosmio G35-AV660 models, it is necessary to download and update the video driver to version 6.14.10.8328 (or higher) before installing the upgraded Toshiba HD DVD Player.

For the Qosmio G45-AV680 model, it is necessary to download and update the BIOS to version 1.30 (or higher) and the video driver to version 7.15.11.128 (or higher) before installing the upgraded Toshiba HD DVD Player.

Once you have installed any required BIOS or video driver for your computer, click the following link to download and install Toshiba HD DVD Player version 4.20.16 .

An alternative to upgrading the Toshiba HD DVD Player is to apply a Data Update  to the earlier versions of the Toshiba HD DVD Players. This Data Update does not have the enhancements included in the upgraded Player, but it is a relatively small download (341KB) and it is relatively quick to apply, and it does not require updates to other software components.
