
Connection to network lost after waking from Sleep or Hibernation -- Intel 82566MC

On some Tecra A9 computers, the network connection may no longer work after the computer wakes from either the Sleep state or the Hibernation state. This problem may happen with Tecra A9 models that have the Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection.The problem has not been observed with Tecra A9 models that have the Intel 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection.
If you cannot access the Internet or other network resources after waking the computer, check the status of the Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection, as follows:
1. Click Start, Control Panel, System and Maintenance, and then System.
2. Click Device Manager.
3. If a User Account Control window asks for permission to continue, click Continue.
4. In the Network Adapters section, locate the entry for Intel 82566MC Gigabit Network Connection.
If there is a yellow exclamation point in the icon for this device, it is not functioning properly. Continue with the instructions below.
If a yellow exclamation point is not displayed, then the device is functioning properly, indicating that there is some other problem with the network connection.
- Resolution
Follow the steps below to correct this problem. This procedure will also re-enable the Wake-up on LAN feature:- Click the Windows Start button, All Programs, Toshiba, Utilities, and then HWSetup.
- Select the LAN tab, as shown in the HWSetup setting screenshot below.

- Click OK, and then click Yes at the "Reboot the machine now?" prompt. The computer will restart.
- When Windows re-appears, click the Windows Start button, Control Panel, System and Maintenance, then scroll down and click Device Manager. If a User Account Control window asks for permission, click Continue.
- Double-click Network Adapters, and then double-click Intel Network Connection.
- Select the Power Management tab as shown in the Intel Network Connection setting screenshot, above.
- Insert a checkmark in the Allow the device to wake the computer checkbox, and then click OK.
Disabling Wake-up on LAN
Follow these steps if you would like to disable the Wake-up on LAN feature:
- Click the Windows Start button, Control Panel, System and Maintenance, then scroll down and click Device Manager. If a User Account Control window asks for permission to continue, click Continue.
- Double-click Network Adapters, and then double-click Intel Network Connection.
- Select the Power Management tab.
- Un-check the “Allow the device to wake the computer” checkbox, as shown below, then click OK.

- Click Start, All Programs, Toshiba, Utilities, and then HWSetup.
- Select the LAN tab.
- Click the button next to Disabled under the Wake-up on LAN heading.
- Click OK, and then click Yes at the "Reboot the machine now?" prompt. The computer will restart.
