- Issue
There may be no audio from the computer's internal speakers after installation of the dynadock VGA or dynadock DVI.- Resolution
Installing the dynadock disables the computer's internal audio device, so that audio will be routed to the dynadock's front-mounted audio output jack.Toshiba recommends connecting external speakers (or headphones) to the dynadock. The speakers may be left conveniently connected to the dynadock, rather than disconnected from the computer each time you move it. The dynadock does not have a hardware volume control, but you can control the volume of speakers connected to it by clicking the Windows volume control icon in the 'SysTray' to the right of the Windows TaskBar. The icon looks like a speaker cone. Most audio and video player apps, including Windows Media Player, also offer conveniently built-in volume controls.
If you prefer to hear the computer's audio from its built-in speakers, then follow the instructions below to re-enable the computer's internal audio device. Audio will then be routed to the computer's internal speakers and its audio output jack -- instead of to the dynadock. The Windows volume control and the volume controls built into audio and video players also work with the computer's internal audio device.
- Procedure
Follow these steps to re-enable the computer's internal audio device (in Windows Vista):1. Click the Windows Start button, then click on Control Panel.
2. Click on Hardware and Sound, then click on Sound.
The Playback tab will appear. Note the checkmark next to the C-Media CM106 Like Sound Device -- indicating that it is enabled as the default audio device.
3. Click the icon for the computer's internal audio device. It's name varies from model to model. On some models it is named Speakers, Realtek High Definition Audio.
4. Click the Set Default button, and then click the OK button to close the Sound window.
The computer's internal audio device will now be enabled as the default audio device, and the dynadock's audio device will be disabled. Audio played on the computer will now be heard on the computer's internal speakers.
