- Issue
Ultra160 hard drives are displayed with a synchronization rate of 80MB/s during POST, even though the LSI SCSI BIOS is set to support wide data path (16-bit) and 80 megatransfers/s (12.5ns).
- Procedure
Even though the drives are being displayed at 80MB/s, Ultra160 will be properly negotiated and configured once the OS and the corresponding LSI drivers have been loaded. Currently there is no work around for the SCSI Summary display showing the reduced sync. rate.
COMMENT:
The shipping LSI BIOS v4.16 for the 53C1010 controller does not check byte 56 of the Inquiry response to Ultra160 negotiation. This byte specifies whether a device is capable of Ultra160 transfers. SCSI traces clearly indicate that Ultra160 is negotiated and validated once the operating system and LSI drivers are loaded.- Export Control and EULA
