Qosmio G35: Upgrade to Windows Vista fails, 'Blue screen' error message

Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista on the Qosmio G35 fails -- with a Windows 'Blue Screen' error msg (white text on a blue background). It's not possible to continue the upgrade to Windows; the Blue Screen error re-appears if the computer is restarted, or turned off and back on again.- Resolution
This problem can be resolved by temporarily resetting the computer's BIOS / CMOS settings to the factory default values. Once the upgrade to Windows Vista has been successfully completed, you can re-establish any settings that differ from the factory default values.- Procedure
- Follow these steps to reset the computer's BIOS / CMOS settings to the factory default values:
1. Turn the computer OFF by holding down the power button.
2. Press and hold down the Esc key down. key, and press the computer's power button, while continuing to hold the Esc key down.
3. When prompted, press the F1 key. The BIOS setup screen will appear.
4. Make note of any settings that you may changed, so that you can easily re-establish them later.
5. Press the Home key to re-establish the default settings.
6. Press the End key to save the settings, and the Y key to save and exit. Windows Vista will start.
7. Continue with the Windows Vista upgrade procedure.
