Issue

The computer's USB ports may not be working after the computer is turned on after being in the Standby state. The error message "Power Surge On Hub Port" may also appear at this time (whether or not any USB devices are connected to the computer).

This problem can occur with the combination of either BIOS version 5.10 or 5.20, and Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

Resolution

Update the computer's BIOS to version 5.50 or higher to fix this problem.

Click the following link to download and install BIOS version 5.50.

You can also browse for the newest available BIOS version on the Model Selector page, or at pcsupport.toshiba.com.

For more help, see Support Bulletin 98081213 Obtaining downloads and support docs from the Toshiba Support website.

There are two ways to temporarily reactivate the computer's USB ports:

1. Click the warning message balloon ("Power Surge On Hub Port"), and then click the Reset button on the window that appears.

2. Restart the computer.

Both of these methods will reactivate the USB ports only until the computer is once again turned on after being in the Standby state.
