- Issue
- When you are typing and accidentally hit the touch pad, the cursor moves and will occasionally begin highlighting the text, or dragging Icons as it moves around.
- Resolution
Disable the tapping feature when typing as follows:
For Satellite 1800 and Satellite 3000 (ALPS driver)
- Go to Control Panel, click on Mouse, click on Tapping tab.
- Here you have the options to disable all Tapping, disable/configure
the Drag lock, or "tap off when typing".
For 5005 (HID driver)
The default Windows XP HID driver does not contain the options to disable tapping. In order to have these options, download the Synaptics Touchpad Driver for Windows XP.
The Synaptics driver can be downloaded from the Toshiba web site at www.ts.toshiba.com
Once you download and install the driver:
- Go to Control Panel, click on Mouse, click on Touch tab.
- Here you have the options to disable all Tapping, adjust the Touch sensitivity, or adjust the "Palm check" option. (Palm Check disables the touchpad while typing)
To (re-)enable the TouchPad feature simply:
- Go to Control Panel, click on Mouse, click on Touch tab.
- Reset the option you changed in step two above.
- Export Control and EULA
- Use of any software made available for download from this system constitutes your acceptance of the Export Control Terms and the terms in the Dynabook end-user license agreement both of which you can view before downloading any such software.
