- Issue
- Two sets of utilities for configuration of Wireless Module can cause module to not function.
- Procedure
Toshiba notebook computers have the Cisco Aironet utility set included on the preinstall image. Windows XP has a set of utilities that also configure the wireless adapter. The Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN Adapter Properties Advanced Tab and the Wireless Network Connection Properties Wireless Networks Tab should be used to configure the adapter. Network Name and Encryption Keys should be configured using the XP Wireless Network Connection Properties Wireless Networks Tab. In fact, most users will not need to make any changes in the Cisco Systems PCI Wireless LAN Adapter Properties Advanced Tab.
If you attempt to use the two sets of utilities (Cisco and Microsoft) will encounter inconsistent operation or an adapter which will not function. However, the Aironet Client Utility does provide Statistics and Status information which can be valuable for troubleshooting problems.
