
"This device name is already in use" Error When Creating A Partnership On The E570

- p>When attempting to create a partnership with Microsoft
ActiveSync an error pops up:
"This device name is already in use. You must enter a different name for your mobile device."
This error occurs when a previous profile exists on your PC with the same profile name. - Resolution
To resolve this issue perform the following steps:
- Remove the PDA from the cradle.
- Open up Microsoft ActiveSync.
- From the pull down menu select File, Mobile Device, and then the name of the profile you are attempting to remove. Pocket_PC is the default profile name.
- Next select File, Delete Partnership. You will receive a warning that you are about to delete the selected profile.
- Select Yes to remove the profile.
- You can now return your PDA to the cradle and create your
profile.
COMMENTS:
You can also manually remove the profile by deleting the profile folder. The profile can be found at C:\Documents and Settings\<Logged in user name>\Application Data\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles.
Application Data is a hidden folder so be sure to select to Show hidden files and folders.
