Issue
Making a backup of the Windows registry in case you want to restore it.
Procedure

This procedure backups your current Registry and creates an icon used to restore the Registry at a later time.

Windows 98/Me

  1. Go to the Start/Run command.
  2. Type "regedit".
  3. Scroll to the top if necessary, and select My Computer at the top of the left pane.
  4. Click Registry, then click Export Registry File. Make sure "Export Range" is selected "ALL".
  5. Change "Save in" to Desktop.
  6. In the File name box, enter a name that you will remember.
  7. Click Save.

Windows 2000/XP
In Windows 2000 You MUST be logged in as Administrator, or be part of the Administrator group to complete this procedure.

  1. Go to the Start/Run command.
  2. Type "regedit".
  3. Scroll to the top if necessary, and select My Computer at the top of the left pane.
  4. Click File, then click Export Registry File. Make sure "Export Range" is selected "ALL".
  5. Change "Save in" to Desktop.
  6. In the File name box, enter a name that you will remember.
  7. Click Save.

NOTE:
Double-clicking on the desktop icon will restore the Registry if needed.
