Issue
Instructions for maintaining the hard disk drive password in the User's Guide have changed.
Procedure

The following addendum will be in the pizza box for the Tecra 9000 and Portege 4000/4005:

Important Information When Using the Hard Disk Password
Instructions for maintaining the hard disk drive password in the user's guide have changed.

  • The hard disk drive user password program name and disk path have been changed from c:\toshiba\hddpwd32 to c:\ProgramFiles\Toshiba\WindowsUtilities\HDDPW\hddpw.
  • The hard disk drive master password program name and disk path have been changed from
    c:\toshiba\hddpwd32 to c:\ProgramFiles\Toshiba\WindowsUtilities\HDDPWM\hddpwm.

The following sections in the Keeping Your Files Safe chapter of the user's guide are affected.

Setting a hard disk drive user password
In this section, replace c:\toshiba\hddpwd32 with c:\Program Files\Toshiba\WindowsUtilities\HDDPW\hddpw.
Wherever else HDDPWD32 appears in this section, use HDDPW instead.

Deleting the hard disk drive user password
In this section, replace c:\toshiba\hddpwd32 with c:\Program Files\Toshiba\WindowsUtilities\HDDPW\hddpw.
Wherever else HDDPWD32 appears in this section, use HDDPW instead.

Setting a hard disk drive master password
In this section, replace c:\toshiba\hddpwd32 with c:\Program Files\Toshiba\WindowsUtilities\HDDPWM\hddpwm.
Wherever else HDDPWD32 appears in this section, use HDDPWM instead.

Creating a user password service diskette
Wherever HDDPWD32 appears in this section, use HDDPW instead.

Deleting a hard disk drive master password
In this section, replace c:\toshiba\hddpwd32 with c:\Program Files\Toshiba\WindowsUtilities\HDDPWM\hddpwm.
Wherever else HDDPWD32 appears in this section, use HDDPWM instead.
