The Disk Management utility in Windows Vista allows you to change the size of existing partitions on a hard disk drive, without destroying the data in the partitions.Follow these steps to resize an existing partition on a computer's hard disk drive:
1. Click the Windows Vista Start button.
2. Right-click Computer.
3. Click Manage. The Computer Management window will open.
4. Click Storage in the pane at left, then double-click Disk Management in the pane at right.
5. Right-click one of the rectangular partition areas in the lower part of the window. (The heading at the left of the existing partitions will probably be "Disk 0" or "Disk 1".) A menu of options will pop up.
6. Click Extend or Shrink to change the size of the partition.
The options available will vary depending upon the current size and status of the partition. Options that are not available will appear 'grayed-out' in the options menu.
