Issue
Installation of Maxtor External Storage – IEEE 1394, i.Link, FireWire Installation using a Satellite 2805-S402.
Resolution
  1. Make sure the computer is powered on and running one of the required operating systems.
  2. Plug the AC adapter four-pin connector into the DC power-in connector flat side up.
  3. Connect the AC power cord into the AC Adapter and plug the AC power cord into the electrical wall outlet.
  4. Plug the 6-pin 1394 Data Cable connector into the left connector on the back of the external drive.
    Note: You will need to purchase a 6-pin to 4-pin cable or adapter.
  5. Plug the 4-pin 1394 Data Cable connector into the IEEE 1394 port on the back of the computer. After 15 to 30 seconds the device will be detected, the drivers loaded and Windows Explorer will reflect the following devices:

    Windows Me: Local Disk (x:)
    Windows 2000: Local Disk (x:)
    Windows 98SE: (x:)

Device Manager\1394\Bus Controller\Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant 1394 Host Controller
