Toshiba has released a patch for the InterVideo WinDVD HD player application to improve the playback compatibility with newly released HD DVDs.

The InterVideo WinDVD HD Patch is not a complete version of the WinDVD HD player. It makes changes to the existing player, upgrading it to version 7.5.41.123

Before installing the InterVideo WinDVD HD Patch, it is necessary to update the nVidia G73M Display driver to version 6.14.10.8328. See instructions below.

  • The Bookmarks feature did not work correctly ("THE LAST SAMURAI", "The PHANTOM OF THE OPERA", other Warner Brothers titles).

  • The Feature Commentaries menu could not be closed by clicking "Setup", then "Feature Commentaries", if the menu was already displayed ("APOLLO 13").

  • Menus would not appear when the "Title Menu" or "Route Menu" was clicked from the disc menu during playback ("APOLLO 13").

  • "Subtitles" is displayed after pressing Up on the remote to show a different menu item (under the Feature Commentaries menu) ("APOLLO 13").

  • The Popup Menu did not appear during playback ("THE LAST SAMURAI").

  • Selecting Stop during playback caused an application error ("MILLION DOLLAR BABY").

  • Ejecting the disc during playback caused an application error ("MILLION DOLLAR BABY").

  • Audio and video could become unsynchronized ("SERENITY", "APOLLO 13").

  • "DOOM" did not play correctly.
Resolution

  1. Update the nVidia display driver -- to version 6.14.10.8328. This step must be done before the next step. See the next section for complete instructions.

  2. Install the InterVideo WinDVD HD Patch. See the next section for complete instructions.
Procedure


Updating the nVidia display driver to version 6.14.10.8328

Preliminary steps
1. Log in as an Administrator..
2. Connect the AC adapter to the computer, to insure that it doesn't shut off during the driver update, due to low battery power.
3. Click here to download the display driver (version 6.14.10.8328). Save the file to the Windows Desktop.
4. Print this document to make it easier to follow the instructions after the display driver has been uninstalled (the next step), because the dispay resolution will temporarily be very low, until the new display driver settings have been established.

Uninstalling the current display driver
1. Click Start, then Control Panel.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs. Click Add or Remove Programs in the following window.
3. With Change or Remove Programs highlighted in the left pane, select NVIDIA Drivers from the program list and click the Change/Remove button.
4. Click the Yes button at the NVIDIA Uninstall window that asks if you wish to continue.
5. Click the Yes button at the NVIDIA Uninstall window that asks if you wish to restart your computer now.
6. A Found New Hardware Wizard window is displayed after the computer restarts. Click the Cancel button to close this window.

Installing the new display driver
1. Double-click the previously downloaded file nvidia_display_25011A.exe to start the driver installation.
2. Click the OK button at the WinZip Self-Extractor window.
3. Click the Unzip button at the “Unzip to folder” window.
4. Click the OK button at the “Files unzipped successfully” window.
5. Click the Next button at the NVIDIA Windows XP Display Drivers – “Welcome ….” window.
6. Click the "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" button, then click Finish at the “InstallShield Wizard Complete” window.

Change display settings
1. Right-click the Windows Desktop and select Properties from the displayed menu.
2. Select the Settings tab from the Display Properties window and click the [Advanced] button.
3. Click the Monitor tab.
4. Uncheck the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" checkbox in Monitor Settings, click the Apply button, and then click the OK button.
5. Click the OK button to close the Display Properties window.

Verifying that the driver has been correctly installed
1. Press the Start button, then click All Programs, TOSHIBA, Utilities, and finally PC Diagnostic Tool.
2. Check the version listed in the Video item in the Basic Information tab.
   If "version= 8.3.2.8"is displayed, as in the illustration below, the update was completed successfully.
3. Click the Close button to close the PC Diagnostic Tool.

InterVideo WinDVD HD Patch installation

1. Click here to download the InterVideo WinDVD HD Patch. Save the file to the Windows Desktop.

2. Close InterVideo WinDVD HD and all other running applications.

3. The file windvd_patch_os2006304a.exe will be downloaded. Double-click the filename to start the patch installation.

4. Click the OK button at the “Patch is Successfully Installed” window.

5. Restart the computer.
