Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) Version 2005 displays "Version 2002" on the System Properties page of the Windows Control Panel, as in the illustration below.

General Tab

Windows MCE correctly displays its version information on the Software Version screen, shown below. To view this screen, scroll down to and click Settings on the MCE desktop. Next click General, then About Media Center, and finally Software Version. The screen shown below will appear, showing the correct version information.
