Fingerprint System Boot Authentication can be used as an alternative to the User / BIOS password, the Hard Disk Password and the Windows Password when starting / booting the computer. Once Fingerprint System Boot Authentication has been enabled, it's still possible to use the keyboard for password authentication. To do so, press the Backspace key when the Fingerprint System Boot Authentication window appears. If a Hard Disk Password has been set up, a prompt for it will appear. A prompt for the Windows Password will also appear.Using OmniPass to enable Fingerprint System Boot Authentication:
Register your user password and the Windows login password with the OmniPass application before enabling Fingerprint System Boot Authentication. See “Enrolling in OmniPass” for instructions on registering your fingerprint.
Follow these steps to enable and configure Fingerprint System Boot Authentication:
1. Double-click the OmniPass key icon in the system tray. OmniPass will start, and display this dialog box:
2. Click the System Settings tab.
3. Click "PBA Settings", at left, and then click “Enroll PBA Authentication Device”. A new dialog box appears:
4. Select “Enable System Boot Authentication” and click the Next button.
6. Click Next again.
7. A congratulations screen appears. Click “Done".
Fingerprint System Boot Authentication takes effect the next time the computer is started / booted up.

Additional information:
- A User Password can be established by launching Toshiba Assist and clicking the Secure tab. It can also be created in BIOS setup, as follows: Press the Esc key while turning on the computer. Press the F1 key when prompted. Create a User Password under the “Password” section.
- A Hard Disk Password can be established in BIOS Setup, as follows: Hold down the Esc key while turning on the computer. Press the F1 key when prompted. Create a hard disk password in the “HDD PASSWORD” section.
- A 25MB partition is created on the hard disk drive to store the configuration information for Fingerprint System Boot Authentication. Do not delete this partition. If it is deleted, Fingerprint System Boot Authentications will no longer function. If this hard disk partition has been deleted, create a new partition, by using the Recovery CD or DVD to restore the hard disk image. CAUTION: This will delete all the data on the hard disk drive. It's also possible to use a third party application (Partition Magic, for example) to create the partition
