
How to install the D-Link DFE-550TX Ethernet adapter for Win2K

- Windows 2000 does not have native support for the D-Link DFE-550TX Fast Ethernet 10/100 adapter. Toshiba has included a floppy diskette with the M500D server for Windows 2000 Support.
- Procedure
- Tools needed: M500D Server Support Disk for Windows 2000 floppy diskette.
To install the D-Link DFE-550TX FAST Ethernet 10/100 Adapter driver, follow these steps:
- From the Windows 2000 desktop, navigate to the "Administrative Tools" icon and open the "Computer Management" applet.
- From the Computer management tree, click on "Device Manager".
- From the right pane, click on the "Network Adapters" icon then right click or double click on the Network adapter name to open the properties page.
- Click on the "Driver" tab and the "Update Driver" box to start the "Update Device Driver Wizard".
- Click "Next" to "Search for a suitable driver..." then check the "Specify a location" button.
- Insert the floppy diskette into the A: drive, type in or browse to the D-Link folder (a:\dlink) on the diskette and select the "netdlh5x.inf" files from the resulting screen.
- After the driver has been installed, follow the prompts to exit out of the program and restart the computer to activate the correct LAN driver.
