Issue
Windows 2000 does not have native support for the D-Link DFE-550TX Fast Ethernet 10/100 adapter. Toshiba has included a floppy diskette with the M500D server for Windows 2000 Support.
Procedure
Tools needed: M500D Server Support Disk for Windows 2000 floppy diskette.

To install the D-Link DFE-550TX FAST Ethernet 10/100 Adapter driver, follow these steps:

  1. From the Windows 2000 desktop, navigate to the "Administrative Tools" icon and open the "Computer Management" applet.
  2. From the Computer management tree, click on "Device Manager".
  3. From the right pane, click on the "Network Adapters" icon then right click or double click on the Network adapter name to open the properties page.
  4. Click on the "Driver" tab and the "Update Driver" box to start the "Update Device Driver Wizard".
  5. Click "Next" to "Search for a suitable driver..." then check the "Specify a location" button.
  6. Insert the floppy diskette into the A: drive, type in or browse to the D-Link folder (a:\dlink) on the diskette and select the "netdlh5x.inf" files from the resulting screen.
  7. After the driver has been installed, follow the prompts to exit out of the program and restart the computer to activate the correct LAN driver.
