Issue
When you connect the Multi Media Port Replicator PA3042U-1DST,
  • the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive is not seen in Windows 98 Second Edition.
  • the "Toshiba PCI-0105 IDE Controller" has a "yellow !" next to it
  • there is a resource conflict. Note: There is only one resource listed "Input/Output Range 0000-000F" and it has a conflict with the Direct memory access controller. When the driver is loaded correctly there are 5 Input/Output Ranges and Interrupt request 11 is listed for this driver.
Procedure
Method 1: Install the driver from the Configuration Builder CD:
(if using a PCMCIA or Parallel Port CD-ROM drive)
  1. Insert the Configuration Builder CD for Portege 3440CT/3480CT disk 1 of 2 and let it autoplay.
  2. Make sure Windows 98 is selected and click "OK".
  3. Select "Install applications and drivers" and click "Next".
  4. Select "Multimedia Port Replicator IDE Driver Win 98 3440" and click on "Install" button.
  5. When prompted click on "Setup" button.
  6. Let the setup complete and restart the computer when done. The CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive should now be accessible.

Method 2: Download and install the driver:

  1. Download 344pride9.exe (or the most recent Port Replicator IDE driver) from the support website at http://www.pcsupport.toshiba.com
  2. Save the driver file to a temporary folder on your hard drive.
  3. Execute the file by opening Windows Explorer and double clicking on the file.
  4. When prompted click on "Setup" button.
  5. Let the setup complete and restart the computer when done. The CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive should now be accessible.
Resolution
Either of the following methods can be used to reload the driver.
