Issue
After performing a clean installation of Windows 2000 Professional onto a Tecra 8100, a "crackling" noise can be heard when playing audio files.
Procedure

Required Tools:
 o Toshiba Fast IR Port Driver (z426ir2k.exe) version 2.16 or higher.
 o Yamaha Sound Driver (t810snd2.exe) version 4.10.2220 or higher.

1  Double-click on the Toshiba Fast IR Port driver(z426ir2k.exe.). It
   will extract files to C:\IRDRV.TOS.
2  Go into Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Manager. Change
   the + to a - in front of Infrared devices
3  Double-click on Toshiba  Fir Port Type- Do. Then click on Driver
   tab. Then click on Update Driver at bottom.
4  In Upgrade Device Driver Wizard, Click on "Search for a suitable
   driver..." and click next.
5  Select "Specify a location" and deselect all others then click
   Next.
6  Enter the path C:\IRDRV.TOS and click Next
7  After installation reboot your machine.
8  In Add/Remove programs in Control Panel uninstall the Yamaha DS-XG
   WDM and reboot the computer.
9  When Windows finds new hardware choose to cancel search for drivers
   for device.
10 Double-click on t810snd2.exe . This file is self-extracting and
   self-installing. Reboot the computer after the installation has
   completed.

Resolution
Upgrade the Yamaha driver to version 4.10.2220 and the Toshiba Fast IR Port to version 2.16 (or higher).
