The following offers basic information for the relationships between DVD movies, DVD Players/Decoders, the various Windows operating systems, Mediamatics DVDExpress and what exactly is and has been offered with Toshiba portable computers with DVD ROM drives.
Windows NT and DVD: Native Windows NT does not have DVD support.
Toshiba did not include a DVD Player for Windows NT nor do we offer one at this time.
Note: Windows NT does support DVD!
See the "NT and DVD Hot Tip" section below.Windows NT to Windows 2000 upgrades:

Note: Native WindowsNT does not have DVD support!
See the "NT and DVD Hot Tip" section below.Windows 95/98 to Windows NT:
Toshiba Windows 95 and 98 pre-installs and Configuration Builders CDs included the Mediamatics DVDExpress for computer products with DVD ROM drives.Once Again native Windows NT does not have DVD support. Toshiba did not and does not offer a Windows NT compatible DVD Player application therefore if you are upgrading to Windows NT from Windows 95/98 the Mediamatics DVDExpress can not be used, however, native Windows NT does include support for DVD! See the "NT and DVD Hot Tip" section below.

Several manufacturers offer and have offered DVD players/decoders for Windows NT as well as for the other Windows operating systems. The following websites include helpful information related to DVD products and players for the Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 operating systems: IMPORTANT!!!
Toshiba has not tested nor does it have plans to test alternate DVD player/decoders with any of it's computer products that include DVD ROM driver. Therefore we are unable to endorse, recommend or support any alternative DVD player/decoder products offered.Special Toshiba Business Products Note:
Toshiba Business Products include a Configuration Builder CD(2 CDs) which offers the business user an option of choosing between operating systems. If your Configuration Builder package included a 95/98 operating system CD as part of it's 2 CD Configuration Builder set then you can use that CD to install Mediamatics DVDExpress with Windows 2000 but not with Windows NT (see Installing Mediamatics DVDExpress above).NOTE: Although 2 CD's are provided with Business Products there is still only one single Windows license provided with the computer. This means a second copy of any Windows Operating System would require a second license which can only be purchased at retail.
