- Procedure
Thank you for your purchase of a Toshiba computer. Please read the following precautions before using the Mediamatics DVDExpress DVD player on your computer. 1) Setting the Display Resolution When you run DVDExpress and start playing a DVD title, the display settings are automatically switched from your original values to the optimal settings of 800 x 600 x 256 colours. When you stop playing the DVD title, the display settings are automatically reset to your original values. This feature is enabled by default. This means that the DVD title is displayed at a resolution of 800 x 600. However, DVD titles always appear at their original colour depth. It is not recommended that this feature be disabled. With this feature enabled, only NTSC formatted DVD titles also feature Motion Compensation, which gives a more beautiful picture without putting a burden on the CPU. To review the feature's settings, click the 'DVD Options' button, choose the [Display] tab and refer to the '800 x 600' and '256 Color mode' checkboxes. Warning: Do not change the resolution by opening the Display Properties window in Windows while a DVD title is playing. The image will be jumbled. 2) Suspending/Resuming your computer while playing a DVD If you turn your computer off in Suspend/Stand-By mode while a DVD title is playing, DVDExpress is resumed with playing stopped when you turn your computer back on. For most DVD titles, push the Play button to continue playing from the point at which you stopped when suspending your computer. 3) Switching the display device while playing a DVD By pressing the computer's Fn + F5 keys, you can switch the display. It is not recommended to use this feature while playing a DVD title. The image will become jumbled. 4) DVD titles only You cannot play Video CDs and Audio CDs using the DVDExpress version that is pre-installed on your computer. 5) Docking/Undocking while playing a DVD Docking/undocking is not supported while DVDExpress is in use. If your computer has a docking capability, please do not connect it/disconnect it while DVDExpress is in use. 6) Displaying multi-monitor images while playing a DVD If you play a DVD title in Windows 98 with the multi-monitor feature enabled, the DVD image can only be displayed on the internal LCD. For general information on the multi-monitor feature, please refer to the "Multi-monitor Support" topic in Windows Help. 7) Displaying on TV As explained at 1), DVDExpress automatically switches the display settings from your original values to the optimal settings of 800 x 600 x 256 colours by default. On your computer, the Windows' Underscan feature is turned on by default at display property. This feature reduces the DVD image to fit the TV screen completely. To do so, switch the display device to TV and open the Display Properties window and click the [Advanced] button in the [Settings] tab. In the displayed window, choose the [Television] tab and check the 'Enable Underscan' checkbox. When you check the checkbox, this feature is turned on.
