Issue
How do I upgrade to Windows 2000 on my Toshiba Portege 7140CT or 7200CT?
Procedure
Portege 7140/7200 -  Windows 2000 driver and software installation
procedures.

1.  Install the latest Toshiba BIOS version on your system.
    Note: BIOS updates can be located at the Toshiba Support website:

        http://www.pcsupport.toshiba.com

2.  Install Windows 2000 on your system, following the instructions
    provided by Microsoft.

Installation/Upgrade Reboot Notes - Important!
Answer "Yes" to all the reboot prompts!  Reboot the system whenever
suggested! You may be required to reboot several times to complete
the installation of Windows 2000, all of the drivers and the
utilities.

3.  Install the following drivers and utilities on your system. It
    is important that you install the following modules in the order
    given.
    *Note: You must reboot the system after installing ACPI support
     or where stated in this document.
    a.  Toshiba Windows 2000 Common modules for ACPI support (TVALD)
        (Requires reboot)
    b.  Windows 2000 Display Driver for Trident CyberBlade e-4 (2816)
    c.  Toshiba Mobile Extensions for Windows 2000
    d.  Toshiba Windows 2000 Power Extensions
    e.  Windows 2000 Sound Driver for ESS 1978 (2813)
    f.  Toshiba Windows 2000 Display Power Save Driver
    g.  Toshiba Windows 2000 Mouse Sample Rate setting utility
    h.  Toshiba Windows 2000 Infrared Port Driver
    i.  Windows 2000 Internal Modem Driver
    j.  Toshiba Windows NT/2000 Utilities (2922)
    k.  Windows 2000 FDC Driver
        Note: FDC Condition Software Patch is not listed on the
        Portege 3110 list but can be found at the following location:

 http://pcsupport.toshiba.com/fdc/downloadform.html

4.  Enable IDE DMA mode
    a.  Open Device Manager.
    b.  Open "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers".
    c.  Double click on the "Secondary IDE Channel".
    d.  Choose the "Advanced Settings" tab.
    e.  Change the current "Transfer Mode" from "PIO Mode 4" to "DMA
        if Available".
    f.  Click "OK". (Requires reboot) for changes to take effect.
        Upon next boot, the "Current Transfer Mode" will show "Ultra
        DMA Mode" in use.
