If these devices are not installed please see the "Comments" section below for additional information.
- Insert Iomegaware CD into the CD-ROM drive.
If it does not autoplay, complete the following
steps:
- Double click "My Computer" icon.
- Double Click CD-ROM drive icon. It will have an "Iomegaware" label.

setup runs through the following:

- Updating system configuration
Note: If your Tecra 8000 still
has the original load or you have re-imaged the
unit using the Configuration Builder CD you will,

states:
"A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C02BF0F5 in VXD IOS(04) + 00001FC9. The current application will be terminated. Press any key to continue." After pressing a key you get a "Guest9x" window stating "Guest9x caused a general protection fault in module user.exe at 0010:00001276." Click the "Close" button and setup will continue at next step.
- Reserving drive letters
- Assigning drive letters
- Iomega Software dialogue box comes up giving the option to select what software to install. The default items selected are Driver and Tools (grayed out), Copy Machine, 1 Step Backup for Iomega Drives, and RecordIt. The only item required for the Zip drive to work is the driver and tools. Select items that you wish to install and click Next to accept the default directory of C:\Program Files\Iomega\Tools.
- Setup will create folders, copy files, and create short cuts. When the Set up Complete dialogue box comes up the default of "Yes, I want to restart my computer now ", select the option "No, I will restart my computer later" and click "Finish".
- The Iomega Registration screen comes up with the option to "Skip Registration" or to select an option for registration (Internet using my Web browser, Send information by email, Send information by modem, Print a form for faxing, or Print a form for mailing) and then click "Next" to continue the registration. During the test I did not register the product and selected "Skip Registration".
- Cancel Registration window opens with a choice
of three buttons. They are "Yes", "Other
options…" and "No".
- "Yes" – If selected you will proceed to the next step and be reminded to register in two weeks.
- "Other options…" – If selected you will be asked "Are you sure you want to skip registration? The choices are "Remind Me", "Never Register" and "Register Now".
- When setup completes, choose Start/Shutdown/Shutdown and click OK to shutdown system. Note: If you had the errors in step 3 the system will hang on the "Windows is shutting down" screen. Press the reset button to continue.
- Connect AC adapter to the Zip drive, AC adapter to power source, USB cable to Zip drive and the other end of USB cable to the system.
- Insert a Zip disk into the Zip drive and power on system.
- System will PnP the following devices: Iomega USB Mass Storage Class Driver, Iomega Win 98 USB Disk Controller, and Iomega Zip 100. As soon as Windows 98 finishes coming up the Zip drive will be ready to use.
- The Iomegaware software will have installed a
couple of device drivers for devices that do not
exist and they will need to be removed by
following the steps below:
- Right/Bottom click "My Computer" and Left/Top click "Properties".
- Click the "Device Manager" tab.
- Listed under "SCSI controllers" you will see "!Iomega Click! Parallel Port Interface" and/or "!Iomega Parallel Port Zip Interface". They will have "!" indicating a conflict. This is because they do not really exist and the Iomega software installed the drivers in error. Caution: if you use either of these Iomega devices do not proceed with their removal.
- To remove the "!Iomega Click! Parallel Port Interface" or "!Iomega Parallel Port Zip Interface" right/bottom click it and left/top click "Remove".
- Confirm Device Removal window will open. Click "OK".
- Select the second of the two devices and remove following the same steps. Note: There may only be one of the devices listed.
To reinstall the device drivers for USB support please see the document titled "Reinstalling USB drivers on the Tecra 8000". This document can be accessed via the web under the Tecra 8000 Support Bulletins.
- Insert Iomegaware CD into the CD-ROM drive.
If it does not autoplay, complete the following
steps:
- Export Control and EULA
- Use of any software made available for download from this system constitutes your acceptance of the Export Control Terms and the terms in the Dynabook end-user license agreement both of which you can view before downloading any such software.
