- Insert the manufacturer's CD-ROM driver diskette.
- Type a: and press the ENTER key.
- Type dir *.sys and press the ENTER key. (This will require knowing which driver is the manufacturer's for CD-ROM access)

- Backpack uses BPCDDRV.SYS as their CD-ROM driver.
- Panasonic uses KMECD.SYS as their CD-ROM driver.
- Port uses a point enabler, which is a file ending in .exe rather than .sys (see step 6-e for an example).
- Type COPY XYZ.sys C: and press the ENTER key
- Insert the copy of the recovery diskette (the created target disk from step #1)
- Type COPY C:XYZ.sys a:\micro

- For the XYZ CD-ROM load the line should read: device=a:\micro\XYZ.sys /d:arccd01 (XYZ being the driver's filename located in step #2)
- The Backpack CD-ROM load would be: device=a:\micro\bpcddrv.sys /d:arccd01
- The Panasonic CD-ROM load is: device=a:\micro\kmecd.sys /d:arccd01
- The Port CD-ROM load will be: device=a:\micro\cardport.exe /p:340 /d:arccd01
- Close and save the changes to the config.sys (Press ALT, then F, X and Y in successive order).
- Reboot the computer (press CTRL-ALT-DEL simultaneously or the reset button).
- Exit to MS-DOS Mode or restart and choose command prompt from the Windows startup menu (F8).
