- What is a KBC?
KBC is the acronym which stands for Keyboard Controller. The Keyboard Controller is the integrated logic in system board chipsets that handle serial communications with the keyboard and mouse. In other words your keyboard and mouse controller chipset. What causes a KBC error?
One of the most common causes of the KBC error message is when a key on the keyboard is depressed while the system is booting up. Rebooting the computer should clear the error! The Keyboard Controller (KBC) error message can be caused by any problem related to either the internal keyboard, external keyboard, AccuPoint, or a PS/2 mouse. The message may also be related to an actual hardware problem with the internal scan controller or keyboard interface, both of which would require a repair by a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider.Occasionally you will find a mouse or keyboard which is simply incompatible with the Toshiba computer and which may cause a KBC error. These may include keyboards or mice made by other computer manufacturers for their computer systems. Eg. Compaq, Dell, etc.
