Installation of RAS on Windows NT 4.0 Systems
- Install the latest Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack (Service Pack 5 is the latest as of July 1999.)
- Right click Network Neighborhood
- If Networking is not installed follow these steps:
- Click the yes key to install Networking
- Select Remote Access to the network
- On the adapter setup screen click next
- Select on or all Protocols
- Click next
- Click next
- Click next
- NT will ask for the workstation CD
- Type the path in for the CD-ROM (i.e. E:\i386 Note:The CD ROM drive letter might be different.)
- press continue button
- If using TCP/IP a message will come up saying is there a DHCP Server on the Network
- Click no
- Remote Access Setup Dialog Box appears
- Click Yes
- Install new modem wizard appears
- Have Windows search for the modem
- Location Information screen appears
- Enter your area code
- Click finish
- Go to step 9 (below)
- Click Services Tab
- Click add button
- Select Remote Access Service
- NT Will ask for the CD-ROM
- Add RAS Device window appears
- Select modem
- Press the ok button
- Remote Access Screen shows your modem
- Click continue
- RAS installs the software needed
- NT will ask for the CD-ROM
- Network bindings Screen appears
- Click next button
- Click next
- Click next
- Click Finish
- Restart the computer
- Re-install the latest Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack (Service Pack 5 is the latest as of July 1999.)
