T100 BIOS SETUP program


The Setup program lets you make basic configuration changes without opening the system chassis. To access the BIOS Setup program, press the F2 key repeatedly, immediately after turning the computer on.

The Setup screens are Main, Advanced, Security, Power, Boot, and Exit. The Setup program initially displays the Main screen. Each screen has options for modifying the system configuration. The following keys are for navigating the screens:
  • The left or right arrow keys select a screen from the menu at the top of the screen.
  • The up and down arrow keys highlight an item in a screen.
  • The ENTER key selects an item for modification.
  • After selecting an item, the left or right arrow keys modify the setting.
  • The ESC key backs up to the previous screen.
  • The ESC key at the highest screens exits while discarding changes.
  • The F9 function key resets the options to the BIOS defaults.
  • The F10 function key saves all changes and exits.
  • For certain items, the ENTER key brings up a subscreen with its own options. For example, pressing ENTER on Floppy Options in the main screen brings up the subscreen options.


MAIN BIOS SETUP SCREEN

This section describes the Setup options found on the Main screen. If you select certain options from the Main screen (for example, Boot Options) Setup switches to a subscreen for the selected option. Use the plus (+) and minus (-) keys to change values.

Option: Processor Type
Usage: Specifies the processor type.

Option: Processor Speed
Usage: Specifies the processor speed.

Option: Cache RAM
Usage: Specifies the cache RAM

Option: System Memory Size
Usage: Specifies the size of the system memory.

Option: BIOS Version
Usage: Specifies the BIOS version.

Option: System Time
Usage: Specifies the current time.

Option: System Date
Usage: Specifies the current date. Select the month, day, and year from a pop-up menu.

Option: Floppy Options
Usage: An options menu appears after you select Floppy Options.

Option: Primary IDE Master
Usage: Reports if an IDE device is connected to the primary IDE master interface. When selected, this displays the primary IDE Master subscreen.

Option: Primary IDE Slave
Usage: Reports if an IDE device is connected to the primary IDE slave interface. When selected, this displays the primary IDE Slave subscreen.

Option: Secondary IDE Master
Usage: Reports if an IDE device is connected to the secondary IDE master interface. When selected, this displays the secondary IDE Master subscreen.

Option: Secondary IDE Slave
Usage: Reports if an IDE device is connected to the secondary IDE slave interface. When selected, this displays the secondary IDE slave subscreen.

ADVANCED BIOS SETUP SCREEN

Option: Plug and Play O/S
Usage: Selects whether you use a Plug and Play-capable operating system or if the BIOS is needed to configure non-Plug and Play operating systems.
Note: If your computer has Windows NT Workstation 4.0, please take note of the following information regarding the Advanced BIOS Setup.

For Windows NT Workstation 4.0, the Plug and Play option needs to be NO. When shipped the setting for the Windows NT Workstation 4.0 preinstalled system is NO. If the F9 function key is pressed to reset the options to the defaults, the "Plug and Play O/S" options is et to YES and needs to be manually changed to NO.

Option: Reset Configuration Data
Usage: Allows you to clear the configuration data.

Option: Memory Cache
Usage: Allows you to enable or disable memory cache.

Option: L2 Cache ECC Support
Usage: This options appears if the CPU L2 cache has ECC capability and enables or disables ECC checking on L2 cache.

Option: Resource Configuration
Usage: Additional setup menus to configure non-Plug and Play ISA devices.

Option: Peripheral Configuration
Usage: Additional setup menus to configure peripheral devices.

Option: Keyboard Configuration
Usage: Additional setup menus to configure keyboard.

Option: Video Configuration
Usage: Additional setup menus to configure video devices.

Option: DMI Event Logging
Usage: Additional setup menus to configure DMI event logging.

SECURITY BIOS SETUP SCREEN

Option: Set User Password
Usage: Controls access to the system at boot.

Option: Set Supervisor Password
Usage: Controls access to the setup utility.

Option: Clear User Password
Usage: Press ENTER to clear this user password.

Option: User Setup Access
Usage: Allows you to prevent user from accessing setup.

Option: Unattended Start
Usage: Allows you to boot, but go no further, without entering password.

POWER BIOS SETUP SCREEN

Option: Power Management
Usage: Allows you to enable or disable the BIOS power management feature.

Option: Inactivity Timer
Usage: Determines the amount of time before the computer enters Standby mode.

Option: Hard Drive
Usage: Enables hard drive to be power managed during Standby and Suspend modes.

Option: VESA Video Power Down
Usage: Select the VESA mode to enable the monitor to be power managed during Standby and Suspend modes.

BOOT BIOS SETUP SCREEN

Option: After Power Failure
Usage: Sets the mode of operation if an ACI power loss occurs.

Option: On Modem Ring
Usage: Controls how the system responds to an incoming call when the system is off.

Option: On LAN
Usage: Controls how the system responds to a LAN wake-up event.

Option: On PME
Usage: Controls how the system responds to a PCI Power Management Enable wake-up event.

Option: Quick Boot Mode
Usage: Allows the system to enable or disable certain tests while booting.

Option: Scan User Flash Area
Usage: Allows BIOS to scan the Flash ROM for user binaries.

Option: Hard Disk Pre-Delay
Usage: Adds a delay before the first access of a hard disk by the BIOS.

Option: First Boot Device
Usage: Lets you define the order of devices you want to boot from.

Option: Hard Drive
Usage: Additional setup menus to configure hard drive.

Option: Removable Devices
Usage: Additional setup menus to configure removable devices.

EXIT SETUP SCREEN

Option: Exit Saving Changes
Usage: Enables you to exit System Setup and save your changes to CMOS.

Option: Exit Discarding Changes
Usage: Allows you to exit utility without saving Setup data to CMOS.

Option: Load Setup Defaults
Usage: Allows you to load default values for all SETUP items.

Option: Load Custom Defaults
Usage: Allows you to load settings from Custom Defaults.

Option: Save Custom Defaults
Usage: Allows the system to skip certain tests while booting.

Option: Discard Changes
Usage: Allows you to load previous values for CMOS for all SETUP items.
