Information
1. Choose Start/ Click on Settings/ Click on Control Panel.

2. Double click on System icon.

3. Click on the Device Manager Tab.

4. Remove the following devices:
IR Serial Port
Modem
Mouse Drive (if not AccuPoint)
Other Devices (if listed)

5. Eject the Modem Card.

6. Close Device Manager.

7. From Control Panel / double click the Modem icon. Highlight and remove all modems that are listed.

8. Close Modem Properties and close Control Panel.

9. Choose Start / Click on Run / type in sysedit and press OK.

10. Go to the Config.sys file and REM out all statements referring to Card Works, Card Manager

11. Next go the SYSTEM.INI file and verify that comm.drv=comm.drv

12. Click on File / Save and Click on File / Exit.

13. Choose Start/ Click on Programs/ Click on Windows Explorer

14. Click on View /choose Options / click on View Tab.

15. Check 'Show all Files' and remove the check mark from 'Hide MS-DOS extensions.......' and click
OK.

16. Open the Windows\INF folder

17. Click on View, and insure that Detail is checked.

18. Go to the column heading Modified on the right side of the display and click -- dates modified will be
sorted. Sort according to most recent dates.

19. Remove any files that refer to the modem. Usually S*.inf . The INF files will usually start with an S
followed by three letter of the modem name. For example: SMOT(for Motorola) , SMEG (for
Megahertz) , STDK (for TDK) etc. Caution there may be more than one file.

20. Remove the Drvidx.bin and Drvdata.bin files.

21. Next look for the folder named OTHER in the INF folder. Check and remove any INF files associated
with the modem.

22. Exit Windows Explorer. Go to Control Panel and find the Power icon. Double click and select PC CARD MODEM tab. Remove check mark from box for 'Remove power from card when not in use.' Click apply.

23. Choose Start / click on shutdown / click 'Shutdown the computer'

24. When the system is shutdown, hold down the ESC key and turn the system back on.

25. Release the ESC key when you see the message 'Check the System Set-Up Press F1'.

26. Press the F1 key.

27. Arrow to I/O Ports and ensure that Serial = Com1 IRQ4, and Infrared Port = COM3 IRQ5.

28. Press the END key and Y.

29. When back in Windows / click on Start / click on Settings / click on Control Panel.

30. Double click on the System Icon, and click on the Device Manager Tab.

31. Expand the Ports Category and highlight Generic IR Port. (Should be Com 3 now).

32. Press Properties and put a check mark in 'Disable this device.' click OK

33. Close and exit Device Manager.

34. From the Control Panel double click on the Modem icon. Follow the procedures of the Modem wizard
