Reinstalling the Intouch module on a 3rd generation Infinia



1. Start the computer in "Safe Mode". While booting up computer hit the F8 key and select "Safe mode" from the resulting menu.

2. Click on Start / Settings/ Control Panel / Add-Remove programs. In "Add-Remove programs " remove the listing "USB supplement to OSR2", using the "Install/uninstall" feature.

3. Restart the computer in normal mode.

4. Click on Start / Settings / Control Panel / System Icon. Select the second tab Device manager, remove any remaining items listed
under "Universal Serial Bus controller". Also remove any "USB" related items listed under "Other devices". Close Device manager
and Control Panel.

5. Insert the "USB supplement" diskette in Drive A:, Double click on My computer / double click on 31/2 Floppy A:. Click on the
Usbsupp.exe file to launch it. If you have the "Backup Utilities CD-ROM" locate the Opksupp folder. Within that folder locate and
launch the Usbsupp.exe file.

6. As the application runs it will run Scandisk, let it run its course.

7. If the application stops it will want the Toshiba portion of the installation. It may be looking for one or more of the following files:
Msvcrt.dll Pmapi.dll Taishid.sys Taishid.inf these files can be found on the "Backup Utilities CD-ROM" in the TAISHID folder.

8. When the system prompts you to restart, let it restart.

9. When the system restarts it will detect "New hardware", a "PCI Universal Serial Bus".

10. Then the "Update device driver" wizard will launch. Select "Next".

11. The system will look for but not find a driver for the device. Select "Finish".

12. The system will tell you it cannot find the file "UHCD.SYS" on the Windows 95 CD-ROM. In the "Copy files from:" field, enter
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and click "OK".

13. The system will then install a "Standard Universal PCI to USB Host controller", it will also install the "Toshiba HID class driver" and the "USB Root Hub".

14. Click on Start / Settings / Control Panel / System Icon. Select the second tab "Device manager". Click the "Plus" sign to the left of
the "Universal Serial Bus controller" listing. Double click on the "Standard Universal PCI to USB Host controller". Select the
"Driver" tab. Select the "Update driver" option.

15. Choose "No, select driver from disk" and select "Next". Select "Show all devices". Select "Intel" as the Manufacturer. Select "Finish".

16. Again the system will ask for the location of the "UHCD.SYS" file. Again in the "Copy files from:" field, enter
"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM". Then choose "Finish".
