- The Libretto 50CT is shipped with a PCMCIA floppy drive. This drive will always operate in a Real DOS Mode, not the Windows shell.
Symptom:
The PCMCIA Floppy Drive does not work in Windows, and the driver is installed. No double-beep sound heard when the floppy drive
is removed or inserted.
Solution:
When the expansion bar is on the mini-notebook the PCMCIA card should be removed using the eject slide. If it is removed with out using the eject slide, Windows may not detect the PCMCIA cards.
To resolve this issue remove and reinsert the floppy drive several times using the eject button. After each insertion wait for
the double-beep before trying it again.
If the unit is not detected reboot the unit and Windows will redetect the unit.
*Following the above operation, remove the Generic PCMCIA controller under the PCMCIA Slot in Device Manager,
shutdown and restart the unit with the card in the slot.
Symptom:
Unit detected in Windows but cannot access the A: drive.
Solution:
In Device Manager click Computer and click Properties. The floppy drive should be on IRQ 15. No other IRQ will work.
If floppy does not appear in Device Manager or it has a yellow dot reload the utilities disk that includes the floppy driver.
Symptom:
Floppy drive not detected in Real DOS Mode.
Solution:
If the floppy drive is removed while in Real DOS Mode and reinserted it will not work.
1) To resolve this issue, leave the floppy drive in the unit shutdown unit and reboot the system.
If the unit still does not recognize the floppy in Real DOS Mode
2) Flash the BIOS with the latest upgrade Ver 6.50 is on the Web site.
* NOTE - If the floppy still does not work it is a hardware issue. The PCMCIA slot is connected to the BIOS
so it will detect the drive to load software on a blank hard drive.
* NOTE - The floppy drive WILL NOT work by using "Restart the computer in MS DOS mode".
You can use the floppy drive in DOS from Windows by selecting Start/Programs/DOS Prompt.
