TESTING MODEMS IN HYPERTERMINAL

1) Click on START/PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/HYPERTERMINAL

2) Double click on Hypertrm (phone connected to a monitor).

3) At New Connection insert a name and click OK.

4) Enter any seven digit number and click OK. (IF you do not have a separate
phone line for the modem, jump to step 4A)

4A. Click the Modify button, Configure button, and the Connection tab.
4B. Remove the check mark in "Wait for dial tone before dialing".

5)Click on General Tab. Set Speaker volume on High

6) Click OK then Click OK again

8) Push Dial (should hear dialing) push Cancel. At bottom left hand corner it
should read Disconnected.

9) Tap the Space Bar once. (should read connected)

10) Type "AT" Commands:

No sound: Bad Modem

Should Hear dial tone

Verifies signal from phone line

Verify phone line connection to modem. Try another phone line. Bad modem

*ATDT411

Should hear Dial tone and Modem dial

Modem is working properly

Bad modem if you hear dial tone and Modem not Dial

*Use these commands also if modem is attached to separate line
