- Connecting Two Computers for Data Transfer Via Infrared Devices:
To connect two computers for data transfer with IntelliSync 97, you can use an infrared transmission device or a parallel or serial cable.USING AN INFRARED DEVICE
To connect two computers for data transfer or synchronization with IntelliSync 97, you can use either an internal or external infrared data transmission device.
TO CONNECT AN INFRARED TRANSMISSION DEVICE:
Skip to step 3 if your computer has built-in infrared data transmission capability.
1. Find an unused COM port (serial port) on the back of each computer.
Desktop computers commonly have both 9-pin or 25-pin male serial connectors. Laptop computers may have only 9-pin connectors.
2. Attach an infrared data transmission device to the COM port on each computer. Follow the directions in your hardware documentation.
3. Place the two systems with their IR ports facing each other. The ports must be no more than 3 feet apart at an angle of 30 degrees or less.
4. Start the Connection Setup Manager. Make sure the Local Devices tab is active.
5. Click Infrared devices.
6. If your system has integrated Infrared capabilities, it should be automatically configured and the connection enabled.
If you are using an external infrared device or need to reconfigure an internal one, see "Configuring an Infrared Device"
TO ENABLE OR DISABLE AN INFRARED DEVICE OR TURBO MODE:
1. In the Local Devices tab of the Connection Setup Manager, click the + next to Infrared Devices to expand the list. Double-click the Infrared COM port to open the Properties dialog.
Click the Enable Connection checkbox to enable or disable your Infrared device.
Turbo mode is selected by default. Turbo Mode increases the speed of file transfers. When Turbo Mode is selected, your mouse pointer may move more slowly while files are being transferred.
To change your device settings, click IR Wizard and see "Configuring an Infrared Device" below. Click OK to continue.
2. An icon indicates that the connection is enabled or disabled. See "Checking the Connection Status" on page 15. Only one connection can be enabled at a time.
3. Click OK to accept the Connection Setup Manager settings.Connecting ransfer Via Infrared Devices:
