Issue

On Toshiba notebook computers equipped with Chips and Technology 6xxxx series, S3 Virge MX/MX+ and Neomagic video controllers (2160, 2200), installing Seagate Proxy Host Remote Control software may cause video distortion, video corruption problems. Sometimes, system becomes unusable unless the video controller is changed to VGA mode.

Procedure

Seagate Proxy Host remote control software is conflicting with video memory in this case. Deinstalling Seagate Proxy software will correct this problem.

For notebook computers with Chips and Technologies 6xxxx series controllers including the following models:

Satellite Pro 410, 420, 430, 440, 460, 470, 480
Portege 300, 320
Tecra 500, 510, 520, 530, 550, 700, 710, 720, 730, 740

Please go to http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/mobile/software.htm and download the latest Chips video driver. The latest driver may correct this problem. To identify the display controller type, refer to user’s manual or check Windows Device Manager.

For notebook computers with S3 or Neomagic video controllers, deinstalling Seagate software is the only solution at this time. Check with software vendor Seagate for further information.
