- Information
- The IrDA port is configured in three places.
· In Windows 95/OSR2 in Device Manager/Ports, Irda, the "Device Usage" box is checked which disables the IrDA Device.
· In TranXit under "Connection Setup" the IrDA IRQ is set by default at IRQ11.
· In Windows 95/OSR2 in Device Manager/Ports, IrDA is set default to IRQ10 because the PCI Bus setting is set to IRQ 11 for IRQ steering.
THESE 3 POINTS CAUSE CONFLICTS WHICH KEEP THE IRDA FROM OPERATING.
SOLUTION:
1. Click on Start - Point to Settings - Point & click on Control Panel
2. Double Click on System
3. Click on Device Manager.
4. Double click on Ports(COM & LPT) - Generic Ir Serial Port.
5. Remove the check from "Device Usage"(this enables the port) if present.
6. Click on the "Resources" tab - Verify that the IRQ option is 10 - Press OK.
Note: If the IRQ is not IRQ 10 determine the PCI BUS Interrupt in
Device Manager/Computer and follow standard IrDA troubleshooting
procedures for IrDA conflicts with other devices.
7. Restart Windows if prompted.
8. Click on Start - Point to Programs/TranXit - Point & click on the second TranXit.
9. On the TranXit Menu bar click on Setup - Connection
10.Remove all "Configured Connections" and press OK.
Note: After removing the "Configured Connections", a "Connection Setup" message may
not be displayed, if so press OK.
11.Double click on "Infrared" - Set IRQ to 10 necessary - Click on OK to exit the "Infrared Settings" Window - Click on OK
to exit the "Connection Setup" window.
Your IrDA port should now be configured properly.
COMMENTS:
· IRQ Steering requires a dedicated IRQ(interrupt) which Toshiba has in the past set to 11 as default. OSR2 has 2 new option tabs that
display when you click on PCI BUS in Device Manager/System Devices. These tabs represent special windows for IRQ Steering and a Driver.
Note: On standard Windows 95 OSR1 models IRQ 11 for PCI BUS was only enabled when the unit was set for docked mode.
If the customer has selected PCIC, under PC Card Controller Mode in the Control Panel/Toshiba System/Miscellaneous window
the IRQ Steering and Driver options will not be displayed. The default option is 16bit/Cardbus which uses IRQ steering.
