Information
SUMMARY: The Sound Recorder utility included with Microsoft Windows 95 has a
default maximum recording time of 60 seconds. To work around this limitation and
increase the recording time, here are two strategies:

Strategy #1

1. Start the Sound Recorder:
Start \ Programs \ Accessories \ Multimedia \ Sound Recorder

2. Click the Record button (red dot) and let it run for 60 seconds.

3. When Progress bar reaches the far right stop, the Recorder will stop and the
Record button will redisplay back to a red dot.

4. Click the Record button again: the Progress bar will reset to the mid-point and
record till it reaches the far right stop again.

5. Repeat this process till the desired time length is reported.

Then Rewind (double left arrow) back to the begining and record for the full
length.

Strategy #2

1. Start Sound Recorder.
Start \ Programs \ Accessories \ Multimedia \ Sound Recorder

2. Choose the Record button (red dot) and let Recorder run for 60 seconds.

3. After Recorder has stopped, from File choose Save As, and name the
file BLANK.WAV.

4. To increase the recording size, from Edit choose Insert File, and select
BLANK.WAV. This increases the maximum recording time of Sound Recorder
by 60 seconds.

5. Repeat step 4 once for each additional minute desired. For example, for a
5-minute recording time, insert BLANK.WAV four times.

Then Rewind (double left arrow) back to the begining and record for the full
length.
