- Information
- While there is no OS/2 support for the C&T 65550 display adapter, OS/2 will install on this system with the following particulars:
o Releases of OS/2 Warp prior to Warp Connect do not support the 6X CD-ROM drive in the 420, 500, 710/720. Use Warp Connect or download the updated ATAPI.ZIP from Toshiba's online services if you have a pre-Connect version of Warp.
o Before you install, use TSETUP to set:
Serial port COM1 3F8/IRQ4
Infrared: disabled
Modem: COM2 2F8/IRQ3
Sound:
IRQ5
WSS I/O 534
SB I/O 220
Playback DMA 1
Record DMA 0
Make a note of these settings. Then, when you install Warp Connect, select:
o Display: VGA
o PCMCIA: Toshiba T4800
o Multimedia: Soundblaster Pro
IRQ5, I/O 220, DMA1
o CD-ROM: Toshiba 5302B
If you are using the original OS/2 Warp v3.0 (in the red spined box), installing PCMCIA support will cause an IRQ15 conflict with the CD-ROM drive. This can be fixed by editing OS/2's CONFIG.SYS file and changing the line that reads:- BASEDEV=IBM2TOS1.SYS /s0=2 /c0=15
to read- BASEDEV=IBM2TOS1.SYS /s0=2 /c0=9
This changes the IRQ for the PCMCIA controller to IRQ9. You can use any other available system IRQ, but be aware that if you use IRQ11, it will cause a problem if you later choose to use a DeskStation V Plus or Enhanced Port Replicator.
Later releases of OS/2 Warp (Warp Fullpack (in the blue spined box) or Warp Connect) support polling of the PCMCIA controller, and install this as the default. This polling method frees up an IRQ on these systems that are already short on IRQs.
Warp Connect is the latest release from IBM of OS/2 Warp. It is the recommended release for all Toshiba PCs, even if you don't need the networking subsystems that it includes.
