Information
WARNING: The procedure you are about to follow involves editing the system Registry files. Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems which may cause the loss of data, and may require you to reinstall Windows 95. Neither Toshiba nor Microsoft will guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. For information about how to edit the registry, view the Changing Keys And Values online
Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe). Note that you should make a backup copy of the registry files before you edit the registry.
To create an icon on your desktop that will restore the registry to the most recently saved version, do the following:

1. Go to the Start Menu / Run command
2. Type "regedit /e restore.reg" (where restore can be any filename)

Double-clicking on the desktop icon will restore the registry.
  • When PC Card is inserted in computer at boot up of Windows 95 the main mouse button fails to function.

SOLUTION:
1. Reboot the computer without the Simple Technologies 28.8 Communicator inserted.
2. Goto Start/Run
3. Type "Regedit" no quotes. Then click ok. Registry Editor will initialize.
4. Goto Edit and then Find.
5. In "Find What?" enter "Lmouse*" no quotes.
6. Delete every reference to Lmouse* when it is found. To continue the Find Function after it stops use the F3 key.
7. Go to "Control Panel"/"System".
8. Go to "Device Manager". Double Click on "Mouse" .
9. Highlight (single click) on Toshiba Accupoint. Click the "Remove" button.
10. Shut the computer Down.
11. Turn computer on and when you see the message "Starting Windows95" press the F8 key.
12. Select "Command Prompt Only" boot up option.
13. Goto c:\windows\system directory.
14. Copy lmouse*.* to a backup diskette and/or seperate directory.
15. Delete Lmouse*.* from the c:\windows\system directory.
16. Reboot the computer and let it go into Windows95.

Windows 95 will now find and configure the Toshiba Accupoint Mouse. It will use the 95 version of Lmouse*.* not the previously install version of Lmouse*.*. Windows 95 may ask for some install diskettes to be inserted. After you reboot the computer you can shut down and insert the Simple Technologies 28.8 Communicator into the computer. Restart the computer and all functions of the modem and mouse will be working.
