Information
The purpose of this document is to outline a procedure for loading the drivers needed
to access the CD-ROM drive in MS-DOS mode.

1. Write Enable the Companion Diskette
- close the tab so that you can not see through the hole.

2. Boot the system off the Companion Diskette

3. At the Toshiba Companion Diskette Utility Menu, Press ENTER and Exit to DOS.
(To the A:\> prompt)

4. EDIT CONFIG.SYS
+ Remove "rem " from "rem device=a:\toscdrom.sys"
The line will read:

device=a:\toscdrom.sys

+ Alt-F, Exit, Yes to Save.

5. EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT
+ Remove "rem if exist toscd001 "
from "rem if exist toscd001 a:\mscdex /D:TOSCD001 /M:10"
The line will read:

a:\mscdex /D:TOSCD001 /M:10

+ Alt-F, Exit, Yes to Save.

6. Write Protect the Companion Diskette
- open the tab so that you can see through the hole.

7. Place the Companion Diskette back into floppy drive.

8. Reboot - Ctrl Alt Del

9. At the Toshiba Companion Diskette Utility Menu, Press ENTER and Exit to
DOS. (To the A:\> prompt)

10. Place the Data/Software CD-ROM in the CD drive and close.

11. Check to see if the CD-ROM drive can now be seen:

DIR D: (or DIR E: on machines that have hard disk on D:)
(You should see a set of files off the CD-ROM)

If you get a message like "Invalid drive specification", check the steps above.
