- WFW 3.11 and DOS LAN Requester 3.0 ==================================
Currently there is no support for Windows for Workgroups 3.11 and IBM Dos Lan Requester 3.0. If one attempts to have these two pieces of s/w coexisting, then one will receive network errors when trying to access the network drives through WFW 3.11. There are only two suggestions:
1) Wait for DOS Lan Requester 4.0 (Available September 1994) 2) Run Windows 3.1 with DLR 3.0.
If one attempts to run IBM DOS LAN Requester 3.0 with WFW 3.11, there are two options to choose in WFW 3.11: 1) IBM OS/2 Lan Server (version 2.0) 2) IBM OS/2 Lan Server (without /API option) With either of these WFW 3.11 drivers you will get the following error messages: "F:\An error occurred reading drive f: Error selecting drive ! network error STOP - Drive F does not exist"
This has been verified by Toshiba using a T1950CT, IBM PCMCIA TR, MS DOS 6.21, DLR 3.0, WFW3.11.
WFW 3.11 Connecting to a Lan Server 3.0 Pure Data PCMCIA Token Ring ===================================================================
The Pure Data PCMCIA Token Ring comes with WFW 3.11 drivers. This was verified by Toshiba using a T1950CT, DOS 6.21, Toshiba Card Manager 3.0, and WFW 3.11.
To configure the card in WFW 3.11 please follow these instructions: 1) Install a PCMCIA enabler or Toshiba's Card Manager. Ensure that the enabler or Card Manager is set to the proper RING SPEED. Reboot the computer. 2) In WFW 3.11 choose the following network settings: Network Settings: Microsoft Windows Network (version 3.11) Network Drivers: Pure Data PDMCIA Token Ring Adapters (NDIS2) Protocol: Microsoft NetBEUI NOTE: One will have to "Add Adapter" in WFW 3.11 and insert the Pure Data Installation diskette into drive A:. 3) Exit from Windows for Workgroups 4) Reboot the computer. 5) The autoexec.bat will run the 'NET START" command. 6) Execute WFW 3.11. WFW 3.11 will ask for your name and password to log into the IBM Lan Server 3.0. 7) To see the LAN Server drive F: perform the following: Click on File Manager Click on Disk Click on Connect Network Drive Type in the Drive (ie \\server1\) Type in the Path
