
Installation of DTAPM: Toshiba's version of Adv. Pwr. Mgmt.

Sleep Mode will not engage or operate properly / Hard Drive will spin up/down in sleep mode or when the unit is awake and idle.
The following procedure will reinstall the Toshiba's Advanced Power Management.
- Procedure
- Contact Toshiba's web page at http://pcsupport.tais.com.
- Double click "Infinia."
- Double click either "7161" or "7201".
- Double click "files".
- Click "DTAPM.EXE". Download the file to a directory of your choice.
- Once the file is downloaded, sign-off the Internet.
- From the task bar at the bottom of the screen, click Start/Find/Files and Folders. In the "Named" box type in "DTAPM" and press the "Enter" key.
- Once the file is found double click DTAPM.EXE.
- A "Winzip Self Extractor" message will appear, click the "Setup" button.
- Press the "Escape" key when the "Install Readme" screen appears.
- On the "Install" screen, press "1" on the keyboard for "IDE (standard on all except 6200M) field."
- On the screen for "IDE Hard Disk," press "1" on the keyboard to "accept" the final selection.
- A Browser screen will appear for installation instructions. The instructions are a part of this document. Close the Browser instruction window.
- Double click "My Computer". Click the "View/Options. Click the "View" folder. Under "Hidden files," click "Show all files" and click "OK".
- Double click "C:\" drive in "My Computer" and verify there is a folder for "TOSHAPM," then close the "C:\" window.
- Click Start/Settings/Control Panel. Double click the "System" icon. Click "Device Manager".
- Double click "System Devices". Single click "Toshiba Advanced Power Management" and click "remove" and "OK" to remove from "Device Manager".
- Verify that "Advanced Power Management is under "System Devices. Remove any duplicate entries for "Toshiba Advanced Power Management". Close "Device Manager".
- Click Start/Find/Files and Folders. In the "Named" box type in "Toshiba*.inf" and press the "Enter" key.
- Single click "Toshiba Corporation" and press the "Delete" key on the keyboard and "yes" to delete the file. Close the "Find" box.
- Click Start/Settings/Control Panel and double click the "Power" icon.
- Remove the check mark for "Allow Windows to manage power use on this computer" and click "OK". Say No to "Restart Windows 95."
- Click Start/Shutdown/Shutdown the Computer. Click "Yes" to start the shutdown process.
- Once the computer is shutdown, turn the computer back on by the power button on the Infinia.
- Press the "F1" on the keyboard to enter the BIOS setup screen.
- Verify that the BIOS is version 1.00.08.DH08. Press the "F5" key on the keyboard to "Set all Default values". Press the "Enter" key.
- Press the "F10" key to "Save and exit" the BIOS screen. Press the "Enter" key to continue.
- Once Windows 95 restarts, click Start/Settings/Control Panel, double click "Add New Hardware".
- Click "Next" on the welcome screen. Click "NO" so Windows will not search for new hardware; click "Next".
- Double click "System Devices". Click "Have disk".
- In the box for "Install from disk" on the command line for "Copy manufacturers files from" type "C:\toshapm" and click "Next".
- In the "Add New Hardware Wizard" box ,"Toshiba Advanced Power Management" will be highlighted, click "next".
- Click "Finish" to install the drivers for "Toshiba Advanced Power Management". Restart Windows 95.
