Issue
Discusses configuration issues about these devices working together and/or separately under Windows 95.
Resolution
  • External mouse is not working
  • Accupoint mouse drifts
  • Simultaneous mouse features are not working
  • Related mouse issues
Procedure
  1. If Accupoint mouse pointer is drifting on the screen, click Start/Shutdown/Restart computer in MS-DOS mode.
  2. At the C:\ prompt type "CD Mouse" and press the "Enter" key.
  3. Type "CD System" and press The "Enter" key.
  4. Type "Rename EM-EXEC.EXE EM-EXEC.OLD" and press the "Enter" key.
  5. Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to reboot the computer back into Windows 95.
  6. If the mouse still drifts, take PC to an "Toshiba Authorized Service Center".
  7. Note: the following steps are designed for all other mouse issues, both the internal mouse and external serial and PS2 mice. (If mouse is PS2 and the error is "KBC" error, refer to a Toshiba Authorized Service Center
  8. Click Start/Programs/MS-DOS Prompt. At the C:\WINDOWS> prompt, type CD \ and press the "Enter" key.
  9. Type "Rename config.sys config.123" and press the "Enter" key.
  10. Type "Rename autoexec.bat autoexec.123" and press the "Enter" key. Type " exit" to return to Windows 95.
  11. Click Start/Shutdown/Restart in MS-DOS mode. Click "Yes" to restart in MS-DOS mode.
  12. At the DOS prompt, type "CD \mouse" and press the "Enter" key.
  13. At the C:\Mouse directory type "Mouse" and press the "Enter" key to load the mouse driver.
  14. Type "Edit" and press the "Enter" key.
  15. On the Edit screen press the "ESC" key to clear the editor screen. Move the mouse. If the mouse works in the DOS editor, follow the next steps. If the mouse is not working, take the PC to a "Toshiba Authorizes Service Center".
  16. Click "File" and "Exit" to exit the editor screen. Press the CTRL + ALT + DELETE keys to reboot the computer back into Windows 95.
  17. Note: before running the following procedure, run Master Disk Creator and create the disk for "Logitech MouseWare95".
  18. Click Start/Shutdown/Restart in MS-DOS mode. Click "Yes" to restart in MS-DOS mode.
  19. At the C:\ prompt, type "Deltree mouse" and press the "Enter" key to delete the mouse directories and all its subdirectories. Press the CTRL + ALT + DELETE keys to reboot the computer back into Windows 95.
  20. Click Start/Run. On the "Open" line, type "A:\SETUP." Insert the Accupoint mouse Disk 1, and press the "Enter" key.
  21. During installation, accept all defaults. Click "Next" to start installing the mouse software. Once the mouse software is installed, restart Windows 95.
  22. Once Windows 95 restarts, the mouse will be configured properly.
