- Information purpose only - How Libretto Hibernation Mode works. The Libretto 50/70CT mini-notebook provides a Hibernation feature which saves the content of the memory when the mini-notebook is turned off. The next time the mini-notebook is turned on, the previous state is restored. The hibernation feature is only effective for the mini-notebook and not for peripherals, such as printers.
The benefits of the hibernation feature are:
- Data can be saved indefinitely even when the battery has run out.
- Save power by frequently turning off the mini-notebook
- Allows a system auto off time to be set
- Allows the panel on/off feature to be used
To enable hibernation mode on a Libretto 50/70 mini-notebook: Select Toshiba utility/Power Saver, Click "Details" then "System". Click the "Hibernation mode" button to enable this feature. Hibernation mode can be activated by an "Auto Off" timer or by closing the LCD display panel.
Hibernation Mode Partition
After hibernation mode is activated, the mini-notebook will save information from system's main memory to a special hidden partition on the hard disk drive. This special hidden partition is created automatically by Libretto BIOS (Basic Input Output System) and is not accessible by the operating system. Libretto users may repartition and/or reformat the hard disk drive using FDISK or FORMAT command without losing the hibernation partition.
Because of this special hidden partition, it is normal to find that the actual usable hard disk space on the mini-notebook is smaller than the actual hard disk drive capacity. To determine the hibernation partition size, use the following formula.
Hibernation Mode Partition Size = Maximum memory size + Video Memory size + 1MB
