Issue
Solving various incompatibilities or enhancing the performance of the IOMega Zip drive when used with the Tecra 750.
Procedure

  1. The IOMEGA Zip drive is not detected on a 750CDT with Windows 95.
This will occur if you have the Bus Mastering IDE Drivers installed. The drivers that are shipped with the 750CDT will cause the system to not allow you to see the IOMEGA drive. Solution is to upgrade to the latest version or use the standard IDE drivers.
  2. Windows NT does not recognize the IOMEGA Zip drive.
Solution is to use the standard IDE drivers instead of the BUS MASTERING Drivers. Go to the Control Panel, SCSI icon and remove the "Bus Mastering IDE" drivers.
  3. The install program for IOMEGA tools (Iomega Tools) does not install with the BMIDE driver installed. The latest version blue screens and locks. The solution is listed below:
Boot in Safe mode and change both the IDE controllers to standard IDE.
Restart the system and install the tools.
You can leave the controllers as they are (standard IDE) or change them to BMIDE version 2.16 or greater.
  4. System locks when you remove the drive from the select-bay. This occurs because Windows 95 by default will enable auto insert notification. Disable this in disk drives, settings and under the "options" section. This will only effect the 750CDT units.
  5. Notice that the drive will take a little bit longer to come up when hot inserted. This seems to be normal, but take this into consideration
