Issue
The Mail icon is missing in Windows 98 Control Panel when Microsoft Outlook Express is loaded.
Procedure

The following procedure will install the Mail icon back into Windows 98 Control Panel.

  1. Boot the computer into Windows98 and insert the Windows98 CD.
  2. On the Desktop, Double click the "My Computer" icon.
  3. Move the pointer over to the CD-ROM drive icon and single click it using the right mouse button.
  4. A menu will appear, single click "open" using the left mouse button.
  5. Double click the folder "TOOLS".
  6. Double click the folder "OLDWIN95".
  7. Double click the folder "MESSAGE".
  8. Double click the folder "US".
  9. Double click the file "WMS.EXE". A message will appear asking "are you sure you want to install Windows Messaging", click "Yes" to continue.
  10. When the "license agreement" screen appears, click "Yes" to continue.
  11. This will copy the files and install the "Mail" icon back into the "Control Panel". When setup is complete, click "OK".
  12. Restart Windows95, when setup is complete the "Mail" icon will appear in the "Control Panel".
