- Issue
- The Mail icon is missing in Windows 98 Control Panel when Microsoft Outlook Express is loaded.
- Procedure
The following procedure will install the Mail icon back into Windows 98 Control Panel.
- Boot the computer into Windows98 and insert the Windows98 CD.
- On the Desktop, Double click the "My Computer" icon.
- Move the pointer over to the CD-ROM drive icon and single click it using the right mouse button.
- A menu will appear, single click "open" using the left mouse button.
- Double click the folder "TOOLS".
- Double click the folder "OLDWIN95".
- Double click the folder "MESSAGE".
- Double click the folder "US".
- Double click the file "WMS.EXE". A message will appear asking "are you sure you want to install Windows Messaging", click "Yes" to continue.
- When the "license agreement" screen appears, click "Yes" to continue.
- This will copy the files and install the "Mail" icon back into the "Control Panel". When setup is complete, click "OK".
- Restart Windows95, when setup is complete the "Mail" icon will appear in the "Control Panel".
