- Issue
- After installing Toshiba PowerSaver utility for Windows NT, selecting START/SHUTDOWN and choose "CLOSE ALL PROGRAMS AND LOG ON AS A DIFFERENT USER." When logging in as a different user, the following error message may appear: "The driver\powersave failed to complete a canceled I/O request in the allotted time." Clicking "OK" will remove the error message and continue.
- Procedure
- This error message is attributed to a limitation with the current version of
Toshiba PowerSaver utility. When logging on as a different user, the system
attempts to start Pwrsave.exe. Because there is another copy already running,
Windows NT will not be able to complete the request. This problem does not
occur through normal NT log on or suspend/resume process. It only occurs when
trying to shutdown Windows NT and log on as a different user. To work around
this problem, perform the following steps:
- Click on "Start", Select "Settings" and click on "Control Panel."
- Double click on the "Power Saver" icon.
- Go to the "Power Saver Indicator" section, and remove the check under "SHOW POWER MODE ON TASKBAR" option.
Toshiba will be releasing a new version of Power Saver utility shortly which should solve this problem.
